Weeding

I knelt down in the soft North Carolina soil and breathed in the rich smells of morning and felt the wet sensation of dew on my fingers as I began to pull the weeds in my garden. Weeding always brings me a weird sensation of joy. I feel as though I’m freeing the plant that I wish to prosper, so that it can grow and bear fruit. One by one, the weeds came up. I pulled and pulled. Sweat began to bead on my brow as I looked towards the end of the row-when did they get so long? It is a long, tedious process that must be done, day after day, like our spiritual life. Imagine that the day you were saved that you started off with a freshly plowed field, a clean slate. If left untended the weeds begin to crop up and will take over if not kept tended and groomed. It requires daily prayer and concentration to pull the weeds of sin out of our lives, otherwise they crop up and soon, your whole life can be filled with sin and you won’t be able to tell your fruit bearing plants from your weeds, then in the end, the weeds always win. They always choke out the tender beans or peas, they stunt the corn. We must always be mindful of what is growing in our spiritual lives. Letting go, is the worst thing you can do. Daily let Jesus in your life to weed out the painful sin and regret of yesterday.

I am a work from home mom of 2 beautiful daughters and a loving husband who works his butt off for our family. Although from the outside, we have the perfect family, inside the doors of our home contain many trails and struggles -Just as yours does. No one is perfect, and honestly I am thankful for the imperfections in life because they show me just how wonderful God is to me.
