This concept is embraced in the bible twice, in Psalms 1:3 and Jeremiah 17:8. A tree that is planted near a source of water, does not lack for anything. It grows and prospers. One of my favorite things in the world, is that no matter where you go, you can always find water by the trees. In a field in the middle of the African safari, or in the middle of a desert, if you see a tree, more than likely there will be water, or there will be where water once was. Whenever you find water and trees, you also find a resting place. There is shade and usually a soft, delightful peace. Jesus is our living water and we abide near Him and thrive near him. He provides us with all the nutrients we need to go out into the world and proclaim His love. That is why the Godly man in the bible is like a tree. If we draw our strength and assurance in Christ, we will become a haven of rest and hope for those around us and wandering souls. Rest in Christ today.
